The NHT offers special relief assistance to mortgagors who experience various crises and financial hardships, that adversely impact their monthly payments towards their mortgages.
We are committed to supporting those who are in arrears and those who have been impacted by natural disasters, helping you manage your mortgage responsibilities through these difficult periods.
What is Covered?
Special Mortgage Assistance is offered for:
Ill-Health
Mortgagors who are experiencing critical illness or medical emergencies may contact the NHT to discuss and make arrangements for special mortgage assistance.
Unemployment
Mortgagors who have become unemployed, may apply to the NHT for temporary mortgage payment relief, through a moratorium or other arrangements.
Reduction In Income
Mortgagors who are experiencing a reduction in their income may speak with the NHT regarding a rescheduling of their loan account.
Indebtedness
Mortgagors who are experiencing a number of financial challenges simultaneously, may reach out to the NHT for special mortgage assistance.
*Mortgagors may seek special mortgage assistance from the NHT, if they have fallen into arrears, have been negatively affected by natural disasters, or are impacted by other financial crises.
How to Apply for Special Assistance

- In processing your application, additional information and /or supporting documentation may be required to ensure that you receive the best relief option for your circumstance. Therefore, please review your answers to ensure that everything is correct and be available to provide further information to our Officers.
- Importantly, incorrect or incomplete information may delay the processing of your request, and any misrepresentation of information could result in denial of your application.

Other Documents
Additional documents may include:
- Valid Government issued Identification (e.g. passport, Driver's License or Voter Identification Card)
- Proof of temporary unemployment (letter from employer) - applicable to mortgagors who are laid off
- Medical Report Form (applicable to individuals seeking assistance due to illness)
- Last two (2) Pay slips (Applicable to employed individuals)
- Power of Attorney (applicable to individuals acting as official representatives of mortgagor (s)
- Any other document deemed necessary by the NHT
- TRN (Not required if a valid Driver's License is being used)
- Termination Letter (applicable to individuals who have been terminated from their employment within the last twelve (12) months)
- Completed Credit Report Consent form (in duplicate)
- Last three (3) months bank statements (applicable to self-employed individuals)
- Completed Electronic Mail Initiative form (applicable to individuals who have not yet registered for electronic mail)
